Introduction to dive computers

As mentioned before, each diving computer is equipped with a pressure sensor that functions as a digital depth gauge. When combined with an internal timer, it's allows us to see both the dive's depth and the bottom time at any given time on the computer display. But it's the software that really elevates the diving computer to a remarkable instrument. Utilizing depth and time data, Diving computers use an algorithm, of mathematical model, that calculates the diving profile in real time. This is how the computer "knows" how much bottom time we have left without entering the decompression zone. the computer will also carry out all additional calculations that were done manually.

Other advantages of the dive computer are: In addition to displaying the depth, time and the remaining bottom time for the same depth, the computer show as information like:

  1. Display and Calculat the rate of acsent and warn us when ascending too fast.
  2. Maximum depth during the dive.
  3. Water temperature.
  4. Digital compass (on advanced computers).
  5. Air pressure in the tank (on advanced computers).
  6. Additional functions that we will expand on later.
