A safe ascent rate in diving should not exceed 10 meters per minute, but even the experienced diver will finds it difficult to maintain a safe ascent rate for the entire ascent. so, the general guidance will be to ascend slowly than the rate of small bubbles. using the diving computer greatly helps to maintain an ascent rate and in case of fast ascent, the display will blink and a warning beep will also be heard at a later stage.
The ascent rate on dive computers will be displayed in one or more of the following configurations:

  1. Display the rate of ascent in percentages - do not exceed the mire then of 100%.
  2. Display the rate of ascent in values of meters per minute.
  3. A vertical bar graph indicating the rate of ascent - Each square represents a rate jump of 3 meters per minute. Each segment represents an increase in ascent rate.
