Alerts

Computer alerts are one of its main advantages. When the dive computer detects an anomaly or even "approaches" an abnormality, it will alert the diver. There are a variety of alerts, and each computer model has its own alert method. The most common alerts include:

  • Audible alarms (beeping).
  • Blinking of the violated limit.
  • Backlight illuminating.
  • Display color change.
  • Vibrations.

When the diver feels vibration, or hears a beep, he should immediately examine the computer display screen to understand why an alert was triggered and act accordingly. To help the diver understand, the "violated" limit will blink prominently.
